About

Fatima Mendez Reynoso is a proud Latina born and raised in the Bay Area, with roots in Zacatecas, Mexico. Inspired by her mother, a seamstress, she was introduced to the world of fashion at an early age, sparking a passion for design when she was just nine years old. One of her earliest memories is sketching her dream Quinceañera dress in a notebook. Although she never had a Quinceañera, that moment marked the beginning of her creative journey and sense of purpose.

As her artistic path evolved, she discovered textiles through weaving, a craft that empowered her and provided a space for deep creative expression. While fashion design became a way to honor her mother’s legacy, textiles emerged as a medium through which she could tell her own story.

The name HushFatima is inspired by a phrase her mother often shared: “Calladita te miras más bonita,” which translates to “Quiet, you look prettier.” Her mother used the saying to teach the values of humility, perseverance, and discretion, encouraging her to keep her plans to herself and allow her work to speak for itself. This philosophy continues to shape both her artistic practice and personal journey.
